Booking Appointments

Once eligibility for the service has been confirmed, patients can download the NHS online booking app which has been specifically designed for the Practitioner Health Service.

How It Works

If you have been referred to a hospital or clinic through the NHS e-Referral Service, booking your appointment online is easy, safe and secure.

You'll need:

  • the booking reference number stated on your booking letter
  • the password or access code you were given by the person or organisation that referred you (for example, your GP practice)

If you have been referred but do not have your booking reference number or a password or access code, contact the person or organisation that referred you.

You can also use the "Start now" button to:

  • check your appointment details
  • change your appointment
  • cancel your appointment
  • cancel your referral

As the patient, you are then in control of your care. You can choose the date and time of your initial assessment and after reading the biographies of team members, can choose which clinician you would like to see. This means that patients are able to ensure they will not accidentally be booked in with someone they know – personally or professionally.

If needed, it is possible to cancel and reschedule appointments via the app and can contact the clinician directly about any arrangements with regards to their appointment.
