Due to society expectations of men, and the workplace culture in healthcare, male health and care professionals are expected to be tough and persist during times of high stress and pressure. In both groups, seeking mental health support can be seen as a failure.

NHS Practitioner Health has a variety of measures in place to ensure that male health and care professionals can access treatment, including the option to self-refer with the service, and a variety of confidentiality measures.

If you are a male health and care professional in England or Scotland who is unable to access confidential mental health or addiction support from local services such as your GP, register with NHS Practitioner Health today.
